West Ham have something special in Gianluca Scamacca and Kylian Mbappe’s Paris Saint-Germain tantrum really underlines that.

The Hammers really need to sign a new striker during the summer transfer window.

18 months had passed since Sebastien Haller’s move to Ajax and West Ham still hadn’t managed to replace him.

Michail Antonio certainly needed help in attack having seen injuries pile up in recent years, and they’re unlikely to disappear into his 30’s.

West Ham have something special in Gianluca Scamacca

West Ham ended up completing an exciting new addition, striking a £35.5million deal for Sassuolo hitman Gianluca Scamaccca.

Scamacca, 23, has already notched two goals in three Europa Conference League appearances for West Ham.

Scamacca is now bringing his goalscoring abilities to the Premier League, scoring in his last two games against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham.

West Ham fans are starting to fall in love with Scamacca and a reminder of the club’s massive coup has been offered up this week.

Kylian Mbappe has dominated the headlines with the superstar striker allegedly keen to leave Paris Saint-Germain.

Julien Laurens reports that Mbappe feels betrayed by PSG because they promised to sign a target man for him to work off, much like he has with Olivier Giroud for France.

Laurens adds that one of the players lined up for that role was Scamacca, but PSG couldn’t secure a deal with Sassuolo, allowing West Ham to swoop in and take him to London.

It’s almost hard to digest that one of the world’s top stars is unhappy because his club couldn’t sign a player that ended up with West Ham.

Yet this just goes to show how good Scamacca can be; his arrival at PSG would have seemingly made Mbappe happy rather than the disgruntled wantaway star he has become.

If PSG wanted to sign Scamacca in 2023, West Ham would be in a great position to demand a huge profit on the Italian striker.

That one of the world’s elite were even interested in Scamacca showed the transfer coup West Ham pulled off, but it has really been magnified by Mbappe’s tantrum this week.
