David Moyes’s West Ham United think that Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United could make a move for Chelsea striker Armando Broja, according to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook (9:39am, July 2, 2022).

Well-known and well-respected journalist Crook has said that West Ham want to sign Chelsea striker Broja in the summer transfer window.

Crook has added that the Hammers think that Premier League rivals Newcastle could make a bid of their own for the 20-year-old Albania international striker, described as “clinical” by Magpies legend Alan Shearer on the Premier League’s YouTube channel in February 2022.

West Ham and Newcastle eye Chelsea’s Armando Broja

The Northern Echo reported last month that Newcastle have made a formal inquiry to Chelsea about signing Broja.

The Express claimed last month that West Ham want to sign Broja, who himself is open to a move to London Stadium.

Crook said on talkSPORT (9:39am, July 2, 2022): “Broja is his (West Ham United manager David Moyes) preferred target along with Jesse Lingard, but there is a suspicion at West Ham that maybe Newcastle could maybe try and hijack this deal.

“They are looking for a striker because Hugo Ekitike, the youngster they were hoping to sign from France, hasn’t been able to agree personal terms.”

Competition

It seems that there is fierce competition between West Ham United and Newcastle United for Chelsea striker Armando Broja.

Broja is only 20, and Chelsea could be tempted to sell him if they get the right offer.

After all, the Blues are unlikely to make a 20-year-old striker their main player upfront.

Both West Ham and Newcastle are big and established clubs in the Premier League, and it will be interesting to see where Broja eventually ends up.

During his loan spell at Southampton last season, Broja scored six goals in 21 Premier League starts.
