West Ham United fans message co-owner David Gold and urge him to move for Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud.

Olivier Giroud to West Ham United is a rumour that excited fans of the East London club in December.

The Mirror reported last month that West Ham were interested in signing the Arsenal striker on loan as he bids for regular football to help his chances of going to the World Cup with France this summer.

Suffice to say the trail has gone cold and it seems like the Irons are exploring other opportunities this month.

But French football journalist Julien Laurens told BBC Radio 5 Live on Wednesday night that Giroud’s wife Jennifer is against a move away from London, amid speculation linking her husband with a switch to Borussia Dortmund in the Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Arsenal deal.

If true, perhaps a move to West Ham isn’t completely dead in the water, given that David Moyes’s side seem to be the most realistic destination of capital clubs.

And Hammers fans have personally tweeted West Ham co-owner David Gold to try and convince him on the move.

Giroud isn’t the perfect centre-forward, but the 31-year-old is head and shoulders above anything else that West Ham have at the moment and with rumours swirling around about Javier Hernandez’s future, the Arsenal hitman would be a wonderful replacement.

A permanent deal would, hypothetically, cost the Hammers around £20 million, according to Transfermarkt.
