West Ham United were beaten 4-1 by Manchester City at the London Stadium yesterday.

West Ham were battered by Pep Guardiola’s Premier League champions, but supporters of the London club may be concerned by Noble’s comments.
West Ham’s players looked beaten before kick-off yesterday, and Noble’s comments sound rather defeatist.

He said: “We’ve sat in the dressing room and said there was nothing we could do about that result. We didn’t want it to be 4-1 but they are that good and they’ve done it to a lot better teams than us this season. We will get together on Monday and get ready for Leicester away.”
Expecting West Ham to win the contest, of course, would have been very naive – but to suggest there was nothing the Hammers could have done to alter the result is incorrect.
West Ham were very poor against City, and looked tentative throughout.

City are a wonderfully creative attacking team, but they were barely pressed by West Ham throughout the contest.
Guardiola’s men have been given problems by the likes of Huddersfield Town, Bournemouth and Wigan Athletic this season – with these teams all putting in whole hearted performances.
But West Ham’s willingness to accept defeat was all too evident yesterday, and Noble’s comments should do little to ease the frustration around the London Stadium.
