And West Ham supporters took the opportunity to use Wilshere’s disappointment in their favour.
The Arsenal midfielder has still not sorted out his contract at the Emirates Stadium, and West Ham are thought to be one of the clubs who want to sign him.
And the central midfielder was inundated with messages encouraging him to make the switch to West Ham to ensure he got back into Gareth Southgate’s plans.
West Ham are unlikely to finalise any transfer moves until their new manager is in place.
The Hammers have parted ways with David Moyes and are currently on the look out for a replacement for the Scot.
