West Ham United handed a debut to youngster Jeremy Ngakia earlier this year – but could lose him this summer given contract concerns.

The Hammers started Ngakia in the 2-0 home defeat to Liverpool in January. David Moyes was seemingly impressed with him, and he equipped himself brilliantly.

Ngakia had to wait almost a month for his next game, which ironically came against Liverpool too. In total, the 19-year-old has made four first-team appearances this season.

Now, West Ham face losing him. Ngakia’s contract expires this summer, and he has so far resisted long-term offers to stay at the London Stadium.

West Ham haven’t even been able to convince him to sign a short-term deal to see out the season. Instead, Ngakia looks likely to move on – and Liverpool could come into play.

Read Liverpool claim that the Reds have made contact with Ngakia’s representatives. A move ultimately looks unlikely, because Liverpool already have Trent Alexander-Arnold and Neco Williams.

Still, West Ham fans have been reacting to the news that Liverpool may go and sign Ngakia, by suggesting that such a move would be ‘very unwise’ for him.

Many feel that Ngakia would barely play for Liverpool, and would be wasting his career if he headed to Anfield. Some want him to stay put at West Ham, but seemingly feel that he would be picking money over playing time if he joins Liverpool.
