Martin Samuelsen was on target for West Ham United’s Under-23s on Monday.

West Ham United’s Under-23 side put their Manchester United counterparts to the sword with an emphatic 3-0 win on Monday night.

Second half goals from Grady Diangana, Toni Martinez and Martin Samuelsen saw the Irons record a brilliant victory over the Red Devils.

It was Martinez’s 12th goal for the Under-23 team this season and West Ham fans are well used to championing him for a first-team spot.

But fans of the East London side have now called on David Moyes to start giving 20-year-old Samuelsen some game time in more important fixtures.

The Norwegian attacker put the result beyond doubt 20 minutes from time by smashing home from the tightest of angles.

And supporters are keen to see Moyes give him chances to shine in the senior set-up.

Samuelsen, signed by Slaven Bilic in the summer of 2015, is yet to make his competitive West Ham debut but if the youngster – who has two goals in four EFL Trophy games for the Hammers this season – continues in the same vein then he’ll certainly endear himself to Moyes for next season.

For now, West Ham are in a relegation battle and the Scottish manager can’t really afford to experiment with untested players in the Premier League, though perhaps next week’s visit of Shrewsbury Town in an FA Cup third-round replay is a viable option for Samuelsen.
