Martin Samuelsen has left West Ham United to join Burton Albion on loan.

West Ham United fans haven’t reacted well to news that Martin Samuelsen has left the club on loan until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old has joined Burton Albion in the Championship.
The Norwegian starlet is regarded as one of the academy’s most exciting young players and reminded Hammers fans of his talent with a cracker in an Under-23 win over Manchester United last week.

But Samuelsen is unlikely to play a role in West Ham’s senior side this season and manager David Moyes has consequently farmed him out to the second tier.
He and Burton will surely be delighted, but the same can’t be said for the Irons supporters.

The move makes perfect sense for West Ham and Samuelsen.
Five months in the Championship should give him a decent bit of experience of senior football and, if all goes well, he can make statements to Moyes in pre-season training and put forward his case to remain with the first team for the 2018-19 season.
Moyes’s side are 11th in the Premier League and things are going swimmingly, but they are still only five points clear of the relegation zone. Things can change very quicky and the Scottish manager needs players he can rely on, not unproven starlets.
