West Ham United have been attempting to secure a new centre back, but ended deadline day without landing a new face.
The Hammers may have kept two clean sheets in a row against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City, but they’re still a centre back short.
A whole host of names have been linked with making moves to East London, but West Ham weren’t able to secure a deal.
The main target in the final stages of deadline day was Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori, who looked to be an ideal loan signing.
Antonio Rudiger failed to move on, and with Thiago Silva, Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma also at Stamford Bridge, Tomori may end up being fifth choice.
Sky Sports report that West Ham had agreed a deal to take Tomori on loan, paying a ‘huge’ loan fee – but Tomori turned them down 10 minutes before the deadline.

Tomori seemingly fancies his chances of playing at Chelsea, and West Ham fans have been reacting to his last-gasp snub.
Some can’t blame Tomori, believing that it sums up just how poor West Ham are right now that he would rather sit on the sidelines at Chelsea than play for the Hammers.
Others believe that Tomori is making a ‘bad decision’ as he could have played regularly for West Ham, with some fans ‘fuming’ having missed out on the defender.
