The 19-year-old made his senior international debut for the Republic of Ireland and played the full 90 minutes, as Martin O’Neill’s side went down 1-0 to Turkey.
Rice, signed by West Ham in 2014, posted a Man of the Match-winning performance in spite of the defeat, with an assured centre-back display.
And fans of the East London club have been raving about his performance on Twitter.
Rice, who was born in England, can still switch allegiances to the country of his birth, though both grandparents hailed from Cork in the South of Ireland.
The Irish will want to get him to commit to them as soon as possible and the only way to do that is playing him in a competitive game.
The youngster has made 18 Premier League appearances for West Ham this season.
