Carroll was on target once again as the Hammers brushed aside Watford on Wednesday.

West Ham United maintained their push for a Champions League finish with a convincing 3-1 win against Watford on Wednesday.

Captain Mark Noble struck twice from the penalty spot to earn himself the post-match bottle of bubbly, but the Hammers’ other goalscorer was also in fine form.

Andy Carroll opened the scoring at Upton Park, poking home Dimitri Payet’s cross in the 11th minute to make it six in six matches for him, before Sebastian Prodl hooked in a second-half consolation for Quique Sanchez Flores’ team.

The big number 9 has endured another injury-hit campaign, but if he continues at this rate England manager Roy Hodgson will have a far bigger striking dilemma on his hands.

Having scored against the Hornets, Carroll’s Premier League minutes-per-goal ratio (of those who’ve played 10 or more times) is bettered by only Sergio Aguero and England squad rival Daniel Sturridge, and trumps that of fellow Three Lions hopefuls Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy and Wayne Rooney.

And Hammers fans were quick to praise the 27-year-old’s performance on Twitter..
