West Ham United are linked with the Burnley striker.

A lot of West Ham United fans have expressed their disappointment over the speculation regarding Burnley striker Andre Gray on Twitter.

The Mirror reported on Sunday that West Ham were considering a £15 million move for the Clarets forward, who netted nine Premier League goals last season.

He is the latest and arguably most underwhelming striker that the Irons have been linked to in a summer which has seen the likes of Olivier Giroud, Javier Hernandez, Kelechi Iheanacho, Anthony Modeste and Cedric Bakambu mooted for moves to the East London club.

Hammers manager Slaven Bilic certainly needs to bolster his forward line, with Andy Carroll, Andre Ayew, Shley Fletcher and Diafra Sakho representing rather modest options it must be said.

But is Gray the answer? Some West Ham fans think so, but many more aren’t sold on the idea that the 25-year-old is good enough.

That is a lot of money for a man who netted nine goals in 32 Premier League games last season, though it must be noted that Gray, if he joins West Ham, would have better team-mates than he did at Burnley, thus perhaps enabling a better standard of performance.

But it was reported last week that Gray – also a target of Newcastle United, according to The Chronicle – wants a £70k-a-week deal if he is to extend his contract at Turf Moor, which expires next summer.

Again, that is a lot of money and perhaps Bilic should leave well alone.
