West Ham United are being bizarrely linked with Mo Diame.

West Ham United ended the season with three straight wins, but it’s clear that Manuel Pellegrini needs some reinforcements at the end of the season.

The Hammers beat Watford 4-1 to guarantee a top half finish, and fans will be expecting some big new additions to bolster Manuel Pellegrini’s squad.

Midfield may be one area of concern, as Carlos Sanchez and Jack Wilshere have endured injury problems this season, and Pedro Obiang may well be on the way move this summer.

West Ham have been linked with a host of midfielders already, and a bizarre link has emerged in Turkey over a possible move for Newcastle’s Mohamed Diame.

Diame is out of contract at Newcastle this summer, and hasn’t made the number of starts needed to trigger an extension on his deal, meaning he’s set to leave.

The Senegalese ace really impressed under Rafael Benitez in his final 18 months at the club, and Sabah in Turkey claim Fenerbahce are rivalling Crystal Palace and West Ham for Diame’s signature.

File this one under bizarre, for sure. Diame has already had one stint with West Ham, before attempting to further his career and ending up at Hull City. At 31, it seems unlikely that the Hammers have really seen enough to bring him back to the London Stadium, even on a free transfer.

Still, fans have been taking to Twitter to react to the rumour, suggesting there’s no way West Ham will be signing Diame, believing he isn’t good enough to be re-signed and shouldn’t be welcomed back after the way he walked out.

Many simply believe the rumour isn’t true, and we’re inclined to agree with them, as there’s no real reason for West Ham to re-sign Diame, never mind bring him back.
