The Hammers were already downbeat having lost 5-0 to Manchester City in the FA Cup, but then had to deal with playmaker Dimitri Payet asking to leave the club earlier this week.

Hammers fans were far from happy as they prepared to take on London rivals Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon, and after a goalless first half, manager Slaven Bilic desperately needed something to change.
Bilic decided to switch to four at the back after the break, bringing Sam Byram on for Angelo Ogbonna, with the right back finally returning from injury.

Byram made a major impact, giving West Ham balance, an attacking outlet and defensive cover for Sofiane Feghouli down the right, and his influence helped West Ham claim all three points.
Feghouli put West Ham in front from close range as he tapped home Michail Antonio’s cross, and Andy Carroll scored a remarkable bicycle kick before Manuel Lanzini sealed the win with a deft lob over Wayne Hennessey.
It was Byram who caught the eye though, despite only coming on at half time, as West Ham fans raved about him on Twitter after the final whistle, suggesting that he deserves an extended run in the team.
Others believe that Byram is better than reported targets Carl Jenkinson, Dominic Iorfa and Kieran Trippier, and think that Bilic needs to stick with four at the back after Byram finally offered West Ham a naturally right back.
