West Ham United picked up a vital win on Saturday afternoon as they beat Swansea City 1-0 at the London Stadium.
The Hammers went into the game having lost five games in a row whilst picking up just two points in seven outings, piling the pressure on manager Slaven Bilic.
With West Ham being dragged closer and closer to the relegation zone, fans were concerned that Saturday’s meeting with Swansea could define their season – and they managed to grab the win.
Despite Michail Antonio being substituted in the first half through injury, West Ham claimed all three points when Cheikhou Kouyate collected Robert Snodgrass’ lay-off, stormed forward and smashed an unstoppable strike past Lukasz Fabianski.
It was a nervy ending at the London Stadium as Swansea searched for an equaliser, but there was an outpouring of emotion when Sam Byram blocked Gylfi Sigurdsson’s effort and managed to win a goal kick.
Team-mates surrounded Byram to celebrate his block as if it was a goal, with captain Mark Noble particularly animated in a fantastic moment for the young right back, who has yet to really impress consistently in East London.

The January 2016 signing from Leeds hasn’t been able to make the right back position his own, but his performance against Swansea earned huge praise from fans on Twitter after the final whistle.
Supporters suggested that Byram was the highlight of the game with a solid performance, giving fans hope that he can become their right back of the future with a man of the match display in a key match.
