West Ham United fans cannot believe that they have bid just £12 million for Inter Milan’s Joao Mario, although there is a widespread feeling that he is not worth £40 million.

FC Inter News suggest that West Ham have had a £12 million bid turned down for the Portuguese international.

And, considering Inter were said to be looking to recoup the £40 million for Mario, when they first loaned him to West Ham – it is hardly a surprise the Hammers’ opening bid has been rejected.

Indeed, even West Ham fans admit that their offer is too low – although there is a feeling that Mario has not done enough to suggest he’s worth signing anyway.

Mario has played regularly since arriving at West Ham in January, but he is yet to make a huge impact.

The 25-year-old has just one assist to his name in his six appearances for the Hammers so far.

Mario has won just one match he has featured in for the Hammers, with David Moyes’ side’s form very poor.

West Ham are next in action after the international break, when they take on Southampton.
