West Ham United defender Issa Diop has impressed most the London Stadium crowd since arriving.

West Ham United fans have been left very impressed by Issa Diop, after his latest admission that he has not played well.

Diop only arrived at West Ham this summer, and he has been quickly thrown into Manuel Pellegrini’s side’s starting line-up.

The French centre-back has arguably been the Hammers’ best player so far this season, since signing for £22 million this summer (BBC Sport).

However, Diop has told the club’s official website that he does not feel that he has played anywhere near well enough.

“I’ve not played well,” he said. “I need to improve and I hope I improve quickly,” he said modestly. Maybe people have said I have been impressive, but we [have] conceded too many goals. For me I know I can do more and I can play better.”

The comments have shocked West Ham fans, who are very impressed with the 21-year-old’s attitude.

If Diop does have room to improve then West Ham could have one of the best central defenders in the Premier League on their hands.

Diop will be in action for West Ham again this weekend, when he will surely start alongside Fabian Balbuena, as Pellegrini’s side take on Manchester City.
