West Ham United’s season lurches from one disaster to the next after a 3-0 home defeat to Southampton earlier today.
The Hammers went into the game having lost each of their last three Premier League games, and had been thumped 4-2 by both Watford and West Bromwich Albion to pile the pressure on manager Slaven Bilic.
Bilic was hoping for better this afternoon after a 1-0 EFL Cup win over Accrington Stanley, but the defensive nightmare continued against the Saints.

Charlie Austin handed Southampton a first half lead when he swept home Ryan Bertrand’s pull-back, before Dusan Tadic and James Ward-Prowse added easy goals in the second half to seal a 3-0 victory.
Many West Ham players failed once again, but Hammers supporters were particularly disappointed with the performance of Havard Nordtveit during today’s encounter.
The Norwegian international, 26, joined West Ham on a free transfer from Borussia Monchengladbach over the summer, and arrived having spent years as a defensive midfielder.

Today though, Nordtveit was again used at right back by Bilic, and he again looked completely out of place with an uncomfortable performance against Southampton.
Out of position for the first two goals, Nordtveit was eventually substituted, but West Ham fans certainly haven’t forgotten about his terrible display.

Hammers fans took to Twitter this evening to blast Nordtveit’s performance, with many suggesting that he is a ‘poor player’, and right back Sam Byram should be used instead.
Others suggested that ex-West Ham right backs Julien Faubert and Joey O’Brien – two players who were heavily criticised by supporters – were even better than Nordtveit, who has not made a good start to life in East London.
