Andy Carroll has criticised West Ham United’s supporters for leaving early during their match against Liverpool.
West Ham United fans have slated Andy Carroll, after his comments to The Sun about their support.
Carroll criticised West Ham fans for not showing enough support during the side’s 4-1 defeat to Liverpool.
Vast amounts of empty seats were visible at the London Stadium, as Slaven Bilic’s side were heavily beaten by The Reds.
And Carroll has suggested that West Ham fans should have stayed longer, as the players need the backing of supporters at this moment in time.
“They really should be staying,” Carroll said. “They should stay until the end. You never know what’s going to happen. They walked out at half-time against Tottenham when we were getting beaten 2-0 and we turned it round.
“Fans should stay until the end, regardless of the team. Obviously, it frustrates you. You don’t think about it during the game.
“But when you see the game back and you see the fans leaving, they shouldn’t really be leaving.”
West Ham fans have not taken the comments well, and have suggested that they would give their backing to a team which put in more effort on the field.
West Ham’s heavy defeat to Liverpool has proven to be the final straw for Bilic.
The Croatian boss was dismissed earlier today, with West Ham sitting in 18th place in the Premier League table.
David Moyes is the heavily odds on favourite to take over at the London Stadium currently.
