West Ham United defender Arthur Masuaku has impressed with his performances over recent weeks.

West Ham United's Arthur Masuaku appeals towards referee Craig Pawson

Arthur Masuaku’s start to his West Ham United career may not have gone according to plan, but he is beginning to prove his doubters wrong now.

Masuaku joined West Ham from Olympiacos last summer, and in his first few appearances in English football he did little to endear himself to supporters at the London Stadium.

The French defender looked extremely error prone when he first arrived at West Ham, but his recent showings have started to change opinions.

Masuaku has started in West Ham’s last two Premier League matches – against Arsenal and Swansea City.

And there are now calls for him to retain his place in West Ham’s team, even when Aaron Cresswell returns to fitness.

Masuaku’s strong performance helped West Ham keep a clean sheet against Swansea in their last outing.

The Hammers picked up a 1-0 win over Paul Clement’s side, which has helped ease relegation fears.

West Ham are next in action tomorrow, when they take on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
