West Ham United supporters on Twitter have provided a mixed reaction to reports linking them with Bundesliga-based midfielder Shinji Kagawa.

Ruhmachrichten.de have claimed that the Hammers have shown interest in Borussia Dortmund’s 30-year-old player, who spent half a season on loan at Beskitas.

As reported by BBC Sport, West Ham will part ways with striker Andy Carroll, goalkeeper Adrian and January signing Samir Nasri when their contract expires next month.

It is quite clear that the East London outfit are already making their mark ahead of the new season, as it seems Kagawa, who has won seven trophies during his career so far [transfermarkt], is a player on their list of incomings.

If he were to join Manuel Pellegrini’s side then he would compete with the likes of Manuel Lanzini, Jack Wilshere and even a Robert Snodgrass for that midfield role.

Kagawa will be familiar with Premier League supporters, especially those in the red half of Manchester because the Japan international didn’t really hit it off at Old Trafford during the early part of his career.

But a move to West Ham would be an interesting one given his current status at Dortmund and given the fact that he isn’t a young player with huge potential ahead of him.

Here is a selection of West Ham fans on Twiter reacting to those Kagawa rumours:

During the recently concluded Premier League season, West Ham beat Watford on the last day of the season to secure a top 10 finish.

There is no doubt that they’ll want to better that finish next term and possibly finish in a European spot if they can improve their consistencies in the league.
