West Ham United could make signings in January, but nobody would have expected Real Madrid’s Eden Hazard to be linked with a move.

The Hammers have real hopes of a top four finish under David Moyes this season.

West Ham’s squad is strong but may still need a few January additions – especially at the back.

Another winger surely wasn’t in the mind of West Ham fans, but Hazard is suddenly being linked.

Hazard to West Ham – really?!

The Sunday Mirror (05/12, p70) report that West Ham and Everton are leading the race for Hazard.

Hazard allegedly wants a return to the Premier League. His time at Real Madrid just hasn’t gone to plan since leaving Chelsea in 2019.

A move to West Ham seems utterly bizarre given the huge wages Hazard earns at Real.

West Ham have also gone in a different direction under Moyes, preferring to sign younger players.

Gone are the days of big wages for injury-prone, past-it players. For that reason, we can’t see Hazard joining the Irons.

Hammers fans react on Twitter

West Ham fans have been reacting to these claims, and it’s fair to say they’re just not having it.

Some want Hazard absolutely nowhere near West Ham, suggesting he has a big ego.

Those fans just don’t think Hazard fits into Moyes’ project at West Ham and aren’t interested in him.

Others don’t even think Hazard would get on the Hammers’ bench at the moment, so see no point in signing him.
