Are West Ham United producing enough players from their youth academy?

West Ham United are an historic club who have produced some of the finest English players.
The London outfit pride themselves on their great academy, having produced the likes of Bobby Moore, Sir Geoff Hurst, Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Joe Cole and Michael Carrick.
In recent years, though, the Hammers have struggled to produced top-class players from their academy.
Mark Noble is still a key player at West Ham, but it is hard to see who can follow in the footsteps of the English midfielder.
West Ham co-chairman David Gold has given his take on teenagers and youth-team prospects struggling to hold down a regular place in the first team on social networking site Twitter, which has led to the fans having a debate on the situation.

West Ham will return to action this evening when they take on Tottenham Hotspur away from home at the Wembley Stadium in London.
The Hammers are 16th in the league table at the moment with 21 points from as many matches.
