West Ham United striker Andy Carroll signed at the London club five years ago yesterday.

West Ham United’s tweet celebrating Andy Carroll’s five-year anniversary at the club has backfired.
It was five years to the day yesterday that Carroll signed for West Ham in a £15 million deal (BBC Sport), and the London side were keen to commemorate the occasion on social media.
However, West Ham may have been regretting the message, after receiving a backlash from supporters.
Carroll’s time at West Ham has been blighted with injury, with the target-man rarely staying fit for a consistent period of time.
And Hammers fans have started to urge Manuel Pellegrini to sell Carroll this summer.
Carroll has proven on numerous occasions that he can be an asset to West Ham when he stays fit, but he just has not been able to remain off the treatment table for long enough.
Whether Pellegrini will consider Carroll as an expendable player remains to be seen.
West Ham are yet to bring in a new striker this summer, but they are expected to add a new front man the coming weeks.
