West Ham United have been linked with both Alfie Mawson and Armando Izzo this summer.

Some West Ham United fans fear that are going after the wrong man, with Football Italia reporting that Armando Izzo is edging closer to a move to the London Stadium.

West Ham have been linked with both Izzo and Alfie Mawson this summer, but it seems that the former is closer to joining.

West Ham have reportedly flown to Italy to discuss signing Izzo with Genoa.

But some Hammers fans fear that the London side are going after the wrong man, as they hunt for a new defender.

Izzo is a relatively unknown prospect in England, whereas Mawson has impressed in the Premier League.

The Swansea City defender was one of the Welsh side’s most impressive players last term, even though he was unable to keep them in the top flight.

The Guardian have suggested that West Ham would have to pay £20 million to buy Mawson this summer.

Manuel Pellegrini has made strengthening West Ham’s defence one of his top priorities this summer, with Issa Diop already signing a contract with the Hammers.
