Reece Burke has admitted to the London Evening Standard that he wants to stay at West Ham United, but it may be best to move on.

Burke has spent the first half of the season on loan at Bolton Wanderers, where he has played regularly, and Phil Parkinson’s side want him to return.

However, Burke has featured for West Ham since he returned earlier this month, making two appearances.

Burke scored the winner in West Ham’s FA Cup match against Shrewsbury Town last night, which will have done his first team chances no harm.

And the prospect admits that he is hoping to stay with the Hammers for the rest of the season and play regularly.

“I would like to stay here but for a young player like me it’s all about getting game time and if I’m not going to play regularly then I know Bolton are also still interested in me and maybe it would be better to go back there,” Burke said.

“That’s a discussion I need to have with the manager in the next few days.”

Whether Burke will remain in West Ham’s first team remains to be seen, but David Moyes has shown his faith in youth this season.

Declan Rice has received plenty of opportunities since Moyes took charge, and has thrived under the spotlight.

If Burke does choose to leave West Ham and return to Bolton, he is likely to go straight back into Parkinson’s side.

Bolton are currently in 21st position in the Championship table, and sit just one place above the drop zone.
