Just a week after David Moyes confirmed to the Guardian that West Ham United are interested in signing Jack Wilshere, Arsenal could end their hopes by starting the midfielder again.

Wilshere made his first start for Arsenal in 19 months against West Ham in midweek, and he put in an impressive display.

It now remains to be seen whether Arsene Wenger will stick by the England international central midfielder or put him back in his reserve role at the weekend.

If Wilshere starts for Arsenal again, it would be confirmation that he is now back in the first-team fold at the Emirates and surely suggest that any hopes West Ham had of signing the 25-year-old are over.

However, if Wilshere is dropped again, it may just be the final signal he needs to convince him to move on.

West Ham have been long-term admirers of Wilshere, and are considered the most likely team to sign him, if he does move on in January.

And whether Wilshere starts in Arsenal’s match against Newcastle United tomorrow will be a big indicator over whether a deal is possible.
