West Ham United’s Dimitri Payet is said to be of interest to both Real Madrid and Barcelona.
West Ham United co-owner David Gold has clarified the comments that he made to The Sun about Dimitri Payet.
Gold admitted that the Hammers’ prized asset could leave for either Real Madrid or Barcelona this summer.
However, when asked about his comments by a West Ham fan on social media site Twitter – he quickly stated that the London side would not welcome any bids for the French international.
Payet only moved to West Ham from Marseille last summer, but his reputation has rapidly increased.
The 29-year-old attacking midfielder has become one of the stand out players in the Premier League, and he has also enjoyed a wonderful Euro 2016 campaign with France.
Payet has become one of his country’s main attacking threats, and he has scored three goals at the international tournament already.
West Ham built their team around Payet next season, but they realise that they will face a fight to keep hold of him this summer.
Real Madrid and Barcelona both reportedly feel Payet would improve the quality of their squads, but they are yet to make a bid.
