West Ham United are said to be interested in signing Jack Wilshere from Arsenal.

West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic has told Football.London that he believes Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere is a ‘great player’.

West Ham have been said to be lining up a £30 million bid for Wilshere in the summer transfer window (The Sun).

And Bilic’s comments about the England international at his latest press conference will do little to quell the rumours.

“Of course if we are talking about Jack Wilshere as a player, that’s different,” Bilic said, when asked whether West Ham were interested in Wilshere.

“He is a great player with great ability but because of injuries had to go on loan to Bournmouth but he is a great player at a good age also – a great age.”

Wilshere’s contract at Arsenal expires at the end of next season, which puts his future at the Emirates Stadium into doubt.

The 25-year-old has spent this season out on loan at Bournemouth, where he has had mixed success.

Wilshere has shown flashes of quality and stayed fit, but he has not scored for the Cherries and has been left on the substitutes’ bench recently.

If Wilshere was to move to West Ham, he would be in competition with the likes of Pedro Obiang and Mark Noble for a place in Bilic’s first-team.
