Tottenham’s victory over Newcastle United has put them back in the thick of the title battle.
Although Mauricio Pochettino’s side remain behind both Liverpool and Manchester City, Spurs are now only four points off the top of the table.
And Pellegrini, whose West Ham side take on Liverpool tonight, insists that Spurs are contenders to win the Premier League this season.
“Tottenham? You should never think that a team because they are four or five points behind you are not involved in the title. Of course they are,” Pellegrini said.
Tottenham’s feat of keeping pace with Liverpool and Manchester City is made all the more remarkable due to the injuries that they have suffered this season.
Harry Kane and Dele Alli are currently on the treatment table, but they have been without key players for almost the entirety of the campaign.
If West Ham can beat Liverpool this evening, then Spurs fans will surely start to dream.
Tottenham are next in action are next in action on Sunday, when they take on Leicester City at Wembley.
