Arthur Masuaku is likely to be missing with a six-match ban for West Ham United after spitting at an opponent on Saturday.
David Moyes pulled no punches when asked about the behaviour of West Ham United star Arthur Masuaku.
The 24-year-old was sent off in the 49th minute of West Ham’s shock 2-0 defeat at Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup on Saturday, when the score was 1-0.
Masuaku is adjudged to have spat in the direction of Nick Powell after the Wigan midfielder tackled him and began to walk away from a confrontation.
And Moyes has slammed the “despicable” gesture and promised to punish the player
He told Sky Sports: “Ultimately, Arthur, what he’s done, was despicable.
“He will deserve everything he gets and he will get something off us as well. It’s unacceptable, totally unacceptable.”
Masuaku is likely to miss at least six matches through suspension and it really puts West Ham up against it.
He has been arguably one of the Irons’ best players since Moyes replaced Slaven Bilic in November and, given he is out until March at least, it’s a huge blow and the Scot was right to be furious.
What’s more is that the Hammers – four points above the drop zone – have a relegation battle to win and it’s an even bigger battle without the dynamism of Masuaku down that left-hand side.
