West Ham United youngster Domingos Quina was finally offered a chance to start against Arsenal.

Domingos Quina has told the London Evening Standard about how he took his West Ham United full debut in his stride.

Quina was handed a chance to start for West Ham against Arsenal in the League Cup in midweek, with David Moyes showing great faith in the youngster.

Starting against Arsenal could have been a daunting prospect, but the attacker spoke to Declan Rice, who has recently broken into the Hammers’ first-team, before the match at the Emirates Stadium, and said he wasn’t at all anxious.

“I was saying to Declan before the game in the changing room, ‘I don’t know why I’m not feeling nervous. I’m too chilled’,” Quina revealed. “He just said to me ‘Go out and do your thing, like you do in training’ and that’s what I tried to do when I had the ball.”

Quina made a positive debut for West Ham, and did not look overawed by the occasion.

West Ham were unable to get the victory at the Emirates though, as they fell to a 1-0 defeat.

Moyes’ side did not show their best against the Gunners, as they lost for the first time in four games.

West Ham’s attention will now return to Premier League, with their next match coming against Newcastle United tomorrow.

Quina is unlikely to start in the contest, but he could be given a role as a substitute.
