West Ham United are thought to be in the race for Hoffenheim star Florian Grillitsch, fighting the likes of Arsenal, Everton, Leeds United and Newcastle United.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim there is major interest in Grillitsch ahead of the summer transfer window.

It’s stated that West Ham are showing an interest in signing Grillitsch with his Hoffenheim contract expiring this summer.

Arsenal, Everton, Leeds United and Newcastle United are also thought to be interested in Grillitsch.

That’s a major fight for the Austrian’s signature, with Grillitsch no doubt fielding interest from a whole host of clubs.

The 26-year-old has now played more than 150 times for Hoffenheim having joined from Werder Bremen back in 2017.

A defensive midfielder with a fine passing range and the ability to drop into play at centre back, Grillitsch is a solid and versatile performer.

Hailed as ‘technically very gifted’ by Dietmar Hamann, Grillitsch is very appealing to many clubs due to his free agent status.

Grillitsch’s contract ends this summer and there is no indication of him signing a new deal with Hoffenheim.

West Ham are now interested with David Moyes desperate to add another midfielder to his squad this summer.

Mark Noble is retiring and Alex Kral won’t be signed permanently after a disappointing loan spell from Spartak Moscow.

Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek are quality midfielders but they need support and competition.

Former Hammers talent Josh Cullen has been linked with a return but it’s now Grillitsch who could be heading to East London.

Beating so many clubs won’t be easy for West Ham but who can honestly say they haven’t been impressed with their Europa League run?

Grillitsch has to be attracted to West Ham for that reason, giving Moyes a real chance of a deal.
