Pablo Zabaleta is out of contract at West Ham United at the end of the season.
Zabaleta is out of contract at West Ham at the end of the season, and the 33-year-old former Manchester City right-back has suggested that he could leave the Hammers.
The Argentina international – who earns £75,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – has also revealed that he has spoken to his West Ham teammate Manuel Lanzini about playing in the Middle East.
The 25-year-old Argentina international attacking midfielder played for Al Jazira Club in the United Arab Emirates before moving to West Ham.
Zabaleta told Arab News: “My heart tells me I would like to play forever, but I will be 34 in January and I need to listen to my body at that time.
“At the end I will know what I want to do and where to go, but I would like one or two more years to carry on playing. At 34 I think it might be the right time to try something different, have a new experience.”
The defender added: “I spoke to Manu about his experience and he said it was great. But the difference was he was only 21, then wanted to go to Europe and test himself further.
“He said the lifestyle was fantastic, you train late in the evenings because of the conditions. After England, this is what I’m looking for.”
West Ham United exit sensible
Zabaleta is a very good and experienced right-back who has done well for West Ham since his move to the London Stadium in the summer of 2017 following his departure from City.
The 33-year-old right-back, though, is past his prime, and it would make sense for the Argentine to spend the final years of his career in a different league other than the Premier League where he has been playing since 2008.
