West Ham United’s Under-23s claimed a vital victory on Monday night as they defeated their Swansea City counterparts 3-0 at the Liberty Stadium.

The Hammers went into the fixture in South Wales second from bottom of the Premier League 2 table and having lost 3-1 to Blackburn Rovers last time out.

However, Liam Manning’s charges were dominant victors against the Swans, courtesy of Dan Kemp’s brace either side of Mesaque Dju’s first Hammers goal.

The victory leaves West Ham three points from safety at the foot of the league table, but they have a game in hand still to play, so the triumph will serve as a big confidence boost.

According to Transfermarkt, Kemp had scored three goals in 10 Premier League 2 games prior to Monday night’s double, an impressive tally considering he had an 11-month layout due to a cruciate ligament injury last year (West Ham website).

Here is how some fans reacted to the victory over Swansea, with some focus on Kemp’s performance and calls for Manuel Pellegrini to name him in the first team:

Up next for West Ham U23s is Arsenal away on Friday 29 March, while April sees the season wrapped up with fixtures against Leicester City, Derby County and Everton.
