A select round-up of the latest West Ham United news…
Aston Villa’s Jordan Ayew is reportedly wanted by West Ham
The Sun are reporting today that West Ham are interested in signing Aston Villa forward Jordan Ayew. The newspaper claim that while a deal for Jordan’s brother Andre is close to completion, Hammers boss Slaven Bilic wants the Villa man to join him, and is prepared to pay the £8 million required to secure his services.
Meanwhile, Bilic has revealed that the club are close to bringing in a new left-back, when speaking to the official club website:
West Ham manager Slaven Bilic
“We were looking to strengthen our squad in that area, even before Aaron [Cresswell] got injured as it was the only position that we didn’t have options. We were looking to bring someone in to have competition with Cressy. We like to have two good players in every position. We are close to getting one of the new players.”
West Ham have been strongly linked with Inter Milan’s Davide Santon (ESPN) and Palermo’s Achraf Lazaar (Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio), but to whom Bilic is referring is still unclear.
Diafra Sikh’s move to West Brom has collapsed
Meanwhile, Diafra Sakho’s proposed move to West Bromwich Albion has supposedly fallen through, according to BBC Sport. The 26-year-old’s move to the Hawthorns has reportedly collapsed because of a back injury that will prevent him from playing at the start of the season.
And finally, as West Ham’s hunt for a striker continues, Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport (via Forza Italian Football) are reporting that the Hammers are preparing a bid of £12.6 million for Italian international Eder.
