Werder Bremen striker Niclas Fullkrug is set to reject a move to Everton or West Ham this summer with the forward unwilling to sign for a club that has fought relegation this season.

According to DeichStube, the leading Bundesliga goalscorer will only want a move to a top club in the transfer window having bagged 15 goals for Bremen and established himself as a full international with Germany at the age of 30, an update which will be a blow for Everton and West Ham.

As per the report, both Premier League sides are interested in signing the Bremen superstar, however, Fullkrug himself will ‘flat out reject’ a move to a club on the wrong side of the Premier League, which could make things difficult for the Toffees and West Ham.

The two clubs, who are well in the mix for relegation, are both in need of a new striker this summer, with Everton, in particular, desperate to add some more firepower to their forward line as West Ham once again look set to sell on an attacker they just signed for big money in Gianluca Scamacca.

Indeed, Fullkrug would have been an exceptional short-term solution for any struggling Premier League club looking to add guarantee goals to their squad for a decent price. However, the striker’s stance is an admirable one, and it will certainly cause some problems for the Premier League duo.

With Fullkrug the leading Bundesliga goalscorer this season at the time of writing, it’s understandable why the attacker wants a move to a bigger club this summer rather than a stepback, with the forward fully aware that he could now sign for a team competing in Europe rather than a side like Everton or West Ham.

Everton and West Ham should forget about signing Fullkrug

Fullkrug’s rise to the top has been a modern-day footballing fairytale, and the forward is now aiming to go higher after the best season in his professional career, which should lead to Everton and West Ham giving up their chase to sign the German international.

After all, the forward’s stock has never been higher, and with Fullkrug seemingly intent on taking the next step, it makes sense why the striker is keen to not sign for a club that is fighting relegation this season, much to the dismay of both Everton and West Ham.
