David Moyes’s West Ham United are interested in signing Harry Maguire from Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United in the January transfer window, according to The Mirror.

The report published this afternoon has claimed that West Ham are considering a move for the £200,000-a-week (SalarySport) England international centre-back.

Maguire, who played for England at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, has fallen down the pecking order at Manchester United under manager Erik ten Hag.

The Red Devils are ready to sell the 29-year-old in the summer of 2023, and they have accepted that they will not get the £80 million they paid for the centre-back to Leicester City in 2019, according to The Mirror.

The Daily Star have reported that West Ham want to sign Maguire on a loan deal.

Loan deal sensible

In our view, a loan deal between West Ham United and Manchester United over Harry Maguire would make sense for all parties concerned.

The Hammers would get a very good and established Premier League defender, and that would enhance their chances of staying in the Premier League.

The Red Devils would have another club cover the defender’s salary for the next few months, so they could save some money on that.

And Maguire would get to play regularly again, and without an obligation to stay at West Ham beyond the end of the season, he would be able to move to another club next summer if he so wishes.
