West Ham United will now let Michail Antonio leave in January if David Moyes signs Danny Ings as well as Terem Moffi. The striker is a transfer target of Chelsea, Everton and Wolves.
That is according to Sky Sports, which reports the Hammers will only let Antonio go if they sign two new strikers. The Irons will also only consider letting the Jamaica international go if they receive offers for a permanent transfer. Any loan proposals will not interest West Ham.
The London Stadium hierarchy are willing to entertain offers for the 32-year-old as Moyes wants new attacking options this month. Ings is close to completing a transfer from Aston Villa to east London. But their talks to sign Moffi from FC Lorient are yet to pay dividends.
West Ham have offered Lorient £25m for Moffi, which is enough to tempt his Ligue 1 side to sell him. But Moyes is yet to convince the forward to move to Hammers whilst they are in a relegation fight. The Irons sit 18th in the Premier League table with 15 points in 19 games.
But Ings is closing in on a move from Birmingham to east London to compete with Gianluca Scamacca and Antonio. Aston Villa have accepted an offer from West Ham worth £15m for the forward. Yet Moyes is still hopeful of signing another striker, which would free Antonio.
Antonio’s transfer from West Ham interests Chelsea, Everton and Wolves
Antonio’s potential transfer from West Ham in January has piqued the interests of Chelsea, Everton and Wolves. The Sun reports that Julen Lopetegui had identified the striker as one of his targets at Molineux. But the Irons rejected an enquiry as they are a relegation rival.
Reports by The Guardian also claim that Chelsea have approached West Ham for Antonio. But Graham Potter only sought a cheap loan deal to help deal with his injury crisis in west London. So, the Hammers also waved away the Blues’ enquiry about the £85k-a-week star.
Antonio has only scored twice and laid on one assist in his 18 Premier League games so far this term. But Frank Lampard also admires his experience and combative style. TalkSPORT reports the Everton boss is on alert to Antonio’s availability for any transfer from West Ham.
Yet Potter, Lampard and Lopetegui will first need to see Moyes welcome Ings and Moffi to the London Stadium. Otherwise, West Ham will baulk at any transfer approach for Antonio from Chelsea, Everton, Wolves or another club in his permanent departure from the Irons.
