David Moyes’s West Ham United are interested in signing Eric Bailly from Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Mail (print edition, page 81, August 12, 2022).

The report has claimed that West Ham have asked Premier League rivals Manchester United about signing Bailly on a loan deal this summer.

Fulham, Sevilla, AC Milan and AS Roma have also enquired about signing the central defender on a loan deal, according to the report, which has added that Manchester United are considering offers from Marseille and AS Monaco for the 28-year-old.

Marseille are willing to sign Bailly on a permanent contract, according to The Daily Mail (print edition, page 81, August 12, 2022).

West Ham should not sign Manchester United’s Eric Bailly

In our opinion, West Ham United should move on from Manchester United central defender Eric Bailly.

Yes, the Hammers could do with bringing in a new centre-back due to Issa Diop’s departure to Fulham, but we think that manager David Moyes could do better.

Bailly has not been a massive success at the Red Devils and has not played much football in recent months.

The Ivory Coast international – who earns £80,000 per week as salary (Spotrac) – made three starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League and made two appearances in the UEFA Champions League last season.

Bailly made 10 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League and played five times in the UEFA Europa League for the Red Devils in 2020-21.
