With Everton interested in Aaron Cresswell are West Ham lining up Bologna’s Adam Masina as a replacement?
Adam Masina of Bologna FC in action during the Serie A match against Spal.
Masina is a versatile player who usually operates at left-back but can also function further up the field in a midfield role and has missed just two matches for his club in all competitions this season.
Aaron Cresswell of West Ham United clears the ball during the Premier League match against West Bromwich Albion.
Does the fact that the Hammers are keeping tabs on the 24-year-old suggest that they could be looking for a replacement for Aaron Cresswell should he leave the London Stadium?
Cresswell has recently emerged as a target for Everton, as reported by the Daily Mail, who are desperate to sign a left-sided full-back this month.
Bayern Munich have knocked back an enquiry for Juan Bernat, while Porto’s Alex Telles and Patrick van Aanholt of Crystal Palace are also on the Merseysiders’ radar.
Sam Vokes of Burnley battles for possession with Patrick van Aanholt of Crystal Palace during the Premier League match at Selhurst Park.
Toffees manager Sam Allardyce actually signed Cresswell for West Ham from Ipswich Town back in the summer of 2014 and is clearly still a keen admirer.
Of course the interest in Masina could be simply as competition for Arthur Masuaku, with the Frenchman having emerged as a left wing-back under David Moyes in recent times with Cresswell operating as one of three central defenders.
