West Ham may regret prioritising Samir Nasri over a young available talent.

After showing interest in Patrick Roberts in the summer, West Ham should be alerted to his potential availability.
The Daily Express reported in June that West Ham were planning an offer in the £15 million rated England under-21 international.
Manchester City had other ideas and made clear he was not for sale, sending the ex-Celtic loanee out to Spanish side Girona.
Roberts has had a tough time in Spain and The Scottish Sun report he is ready to quit the continent to return to City.
This places question marks over his future. Chances at City are unlikely, and loans are not necessarily helping. It’s time for Roberts to look at leaving permanently.

January could then have provided a chance for West Ham to make a renewed effort in Roberts.
Their recent investment in Samir Nasri makes this look unlikely.
Even on a free transfer, Nasri is earning substantial wages, likely triple what Roberts could command.
West Ham’s focus on a controversial veteran once again rather than an up and coming star is another red flag that the club are not learning from their past mistakes.
