West Ham United have been linked with a big money move for exciting Lazio star Felipe Anderson.
West Ham are trying to sign Lazio star Felipe Anderson to mark a new era under Manuel Pellegrini, as reported by the likes of Sky Sports.
The 25-year-old winger scored seven goals and provided 12 assists in an injury-hit season for Lazio last term during which he helped the Rome club to the Europa League quarter-finals.
The move has excited West Ham fans as Anderson has proved to be one of Lazio’s key players for a number of seasons, having signed from Santos for just £6.75m in 2013.
In 177 appearances across five seasons for Lazio, Anderson has scored 34 goals and provided 42 assists.
But Hammers fans have been left with an all too familiar feeling of frustration with several claims the deal was close – as reported by the likes of Gianluca Di Marzio – followed by counter claims it could be called off over differences between West Ham and Lazio regarding the player’s valuation and the way the deal is structured.
Co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold have been criticised by some fans on social media and are being accused of penny pinching.
But it has now emerged the hold-up has been because Lazio are keen to raise the bidding as they must pay Anderson’s former club Santos 25% of his transfer fee, as reported by Calciomercato.
However, there is still hope for West Ham fans after Tutto Mercato claimed the club has submitted a final offer for the Brazilian worth £31 million with an additional £2.5 million in add-ons and a 10% sell-on clause.
“West Ham has put on the table a final proposal for Felipe Anderson,” Tutto Mercato reports.
“Lazio would receive £31 million plus £2.5 million bonuses, but not only. The Hammers have inserted the clause for 10% of the future resale of the Brazilian, virtually bringing the proposal around the £38 million requested by Lotito. It could be the last revival by the Clarets and Blue.”
