West Ham United are desperately searching for strikers this summer and could have been handed a boost by relegated Sunderland.

Sunderland striker Fabio Borini is set to join resurgent Serie A giants Milan for £5.3 million, as reported by BBC Sport.

The transfer has taken many by surprise given Milan’s stature and the fact they are spending money under new

ownership in a bid to return to their former glory.

It comes just a week after Milan completed a major coup by signing the rising star of Portuguese football, striker Andre Silva for a reported £35 million.

The double striker signing has cast further doubt over the futures of Carlos Bacca and M’Baye Niang, who have both been linked with moves to West Ham.

The Hammers chased Colombian star Bacca throughout last summer – as reported by the Express at the time – as their search for a marquee striker signing ended in failure.

And they were also linked with Niang last summer as well as in January, as reported by Sky Sports.

So with Milan reshaping their squad it could clear a path for Slaven Bilic to go back in for Bacca and Niang as the club continue their desperate search for two strikers.

The Hammers have already missed out on the likes of Henry Onyekuru and Bertrand Traore while Leicester City are now favourites to land prime target Kelechi Inheanacho.

Interest in Olivier Giroud, Michy Batshuayi and Theo Walcott has also gone quiet in recent weeks so Bilic could do a lot worse than take advantage of a potential Milan fire sale.
