West Ham United supporters haven’t had too much to smile about this season. After a sensational first year for Slaven Bilic, the team has struggled to replicate a campaign which saw them gain European football, and the club also lost their best player, Dimitri Payet, in a disappointing and bitter transfer safa with French club Marseille.

However, one thing Hammers fans can smile about is the return to form of striker, Andy Carroll. The former Newcastle United and Liverpool forward joined the club in 2013 after a successful loan spell.

The English striker, who scored 31 goals for Newcastle United but only 6 for Liverpool, has had his time with West Ham marred with injury after injury, and has struggled to hold down a place in the team because of this.

However, after finally finding a clean break of fitness, Andy Carroll now appears to be in the form of his life, and has really flourished under Slaven Bilic this season.

And now the Mirror are reporting that England manager Gareth Southgate is considering recalling the forward to the national team, with Harry Kane, Daniel Sturridge and Wayne Rooney all unavailable.

With confidence seemingly one of the key things to unlocking Andy Carroll’s full potential, a return to the England set-up might just help propel the striker to an even greater level, and ease West Ham fans’ memories of a season that has been somewhat deflating.
