Hammers January recruit Jose Fonte sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and offered high praise for the club’s fans, highlighting how the London Stadium faithful gave him goosebumps during his side’s superb 1-0 win over Tottenham on Friday night.
The 33-year-old made the switch form Southampton towards the end of the winter transfer window, for a fee believed to be in the region of £8 million, but initially struggled to make a positive impact on the West Ham side, with them shipping 16 goals during his first seven outings for the club.
He has since improved dramatically, however, and it has been no coincidence that the Hammers’ results have also seen a vast improvement.
Fonte sat down for an interview with WHUFC.com, and highlighted the importance of the West Ham fans to the side’s recent resurgence in form, especially during Friday night’s thrilling victory over Spurs:

“I’m pleased for these last few results and I’m pleased the fans have supported us. If the fans want to, they can make it hell for the opponents and that’s what they did on Friday. They were loud, they were intense and we felt it – goosebumps. Well done to the fans, because they were massive and this win is for them.”
Next up for Slaven Bilic’s side is a visit from Liverpool on Sunday, and a win there, coupled with all three points away at Burnley on the final day of the season could see the East Londoners finish as high as eighth in the table.
And that would have to go down as somewhat of a success, considering the trouble they found themselves in earlier on this season.
