West Ham and Tottenham duo remain friends from their Southampton days.
Victor Wanyama is hoping to make his long awaited comeback for Tottenham Hotspur this month after stepping up his recovery from a knee injury.
If overlooked for today’s game against Swansea, Wanyama’s return could be against West Ham United days later.
One West Ham player who is keen for Wanyama to return is his former teammate Jose Fonte, who exchanged messages with the Spurs midfielder.
The West Ham defender posted: “The Lion is back!!! @victorwanyama” before the Spurs midfielder replied: “@f6nte thanks bro hope you are well”.
The duo played alongside each other at Southampton before both joining rival London clubs over the past 18 months.
Fonte is currently out of action with an ankle injury and is not expected back in action until late January.
Wanyama has not played at all since mid-August and his presence has at times been badly missed in Tottenham’s midfield.
