West Ham United star Manuel Lanzini has told the club’s official website that he is keen to come out on top against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday so he can brag to Erik Lamela.

The Hammers face Spurs at White Hart Lane in Saturday’s late kick-off with both sides desperate for a win.

Lanzini’s side are struggling, just one point outside the relegation zone after winning just two of their last nine Premier League games.

In comparison, Spurs are fifth in the table, but they are enduring something of a slump, going winless in their last seven matches in all competitions.

Both sets of players will think that they need the win more than the other, but Lanzini has admitted that he has a personal reason to be so keen for victory.

The Argentina international wants to get one over on his international teammate and Erik Lamela by beating his good friend on Lamela’s home turf.

Lanzini told West Ham’s website: “It is always great to see familiar faces. I played with Erik at River Plate and we developed a very good friendship. I think he is a very good player.

“But I have to focus on West Ham and make sure we do everything to win the game. I hope to earn the bragging rights on Saturday!”

Hammers fans will be hoping that it is indeed Lanzini who comes out on top in the clash between the two Argentine stars this weekend.

The 23-year-old has two goals from nine Premier League appearances so far this term, but, like his team in general, has largely struggled to live up to the standards set last season.
