West Ham ace comments on response to FA Cup loss.

West Ham United's Angelo Ogbonna celebrates scoring his sides second goal

West Ham centre-back Angelo Ogbonna has been talking to the club website about the club’s reaction to their FA Cup loss to AFC Wimbledon.

It is just over a week since the Hammers were humbled by the League One side. A 3-0 loss to Wolves followed.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side produced a response to be pleased with as they held title hopefuls to a draw at the London Stadium on Monday night.

West Ham were unlucky not to win, with Mark Noble coming close to scoring a winner, while Liverpool’s goal should not have been given as it was offside.

Ogbonna said that the team really felt the pain of the FA Cup loss and feel they have moved on.

He told the club website: “Of course, we were ashamed when we lost to Wimbledon. We conceded four goals and as a defender to concede four goals against a team from League One [is not good enough].

“Our expectation was to play really well and go ahead in the cup, but that is in the past.

“When you compare last season to this, it’s a totally different West Ham. We showed that against Liverpool.”

West Ham’s next game is away to Crystal Palace followed by a home fixture against Fulham.

Two wins would be ideal, and really back up Ogbonna’s assertion that the club have moved forward since the loss.

Fail to secure victory in either game and fans will begin to worry again, with Manchester City next up after that.
