A number of West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to express their hope that Cheikhou Kouyate is sold at the end of the season after watching his performance during the Hammers’ defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.

For the second weekend in a row, David Moyes’ men were beaten 4-1, with Pep Guardiola’s side getting the better of the Irons by the same scoreline that Arsenal secured at the Emirates last Sunday.

City were fantastic, but it was an incredibly disappointing afternoon for West Ham who performed so superbly when the two sides met back in December and David Silva scored a late winner. This time, Guardiola’s men had the title wrapped up while West Ham’s relegation battle is threatening to go down to the wire, but the home side were unable to keep up with their opponents.

Several players proved underwhelming at the London Stadium, with Kouyate one of those who looked well short of his best in the defeat – and the fans did not let him get away with the display.

The Irons faithful took to social media after the defeat to criticise the 28-year-old for his poor performance in the middle of the park, while Moyes also took a lot of flak for the way that he continues to put faith in the Senegal international.

One fan labelled Kouyate a coward, while several suggested that this summer is the right time to move him on if the club want to ensure that they are not in a similar sort of position this time next year.

Here is the best of the reaction…
